Hi, I’m Amanda.

I am a PhD student at the University of Wisconsin, Madison in the Department of Life Sciences Communication.

As a social scientist, my research focuses on environmental and science communication, social media and social movements. I am driven to understand how climate change and other environmental issues are communicated online.

Current foci include how the global youth climate movement uses social media to communicate and mobilize towards action, how corporations use environmental activism in marketing and how the visualization of science can inform behavioral change.

I am originally from Southern California, received a B.A in communication from UC San Diego, an M.S. in public communication and technology from Colorado State University.

I like to hike, bike, do yoga, travel, trail run, drink good coffee and beer, snowboard, read climate fiction and recently, crochet.
